Anterior internal fixation of the thoracic, thoracolumbar, and lumbar spine is a growing trend in spinal surgery.
Approaching these regions of the spine anteriorly allows the surgeon to completely clear the spinal canal, decompress bony fragments, totally resect tumors, and fuse a minimum number of motion segments.
The VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System incorporates a design that allows for surgical simplicity and intraoperative flexibility.
Broad Application
The VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System is intended to help provide immobilization and stabilization of spinal segments as an adjunct to fusion of the thoracic, thoracolumbar, and lumbar spine.
The VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System helps stabilize fractures, tumors, deformities, and other unstable pathology while facilitating neural decompression and restoration of vertebral height and lordosis or kyphosis.
Basics and Benefits
The VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System incorporates a reduced-volume, top-loading and tightening construct that offers:
Enhanced Distraction/Visualization
The VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System facilitates distraction outside the intervertebral space to aid in visualization and decompression of the spinal canal. The VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System plate design incorporates holes that allow the surgeon to view bone graft and/or interbody devices.
Wide Clearance
Sized for anatomical fit, the VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System offers a wide range of clearance: T1 through L5.
Ease of Use
The VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System consists of four easy-to-assemble components, which are color coded for ease of use.
MRI Compatibility
The VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System implant components are fabricated from medical grade titanium alloy as described by such standards as ASTM F136 or ISO 5832-3.
Indications
Properly used, the VANTAGE™ Anterior Fixation System is intended to provide
stabilization during the development of a solid spinal fusion. The specific
indications are: (1) degenerative
disc disease (as defined by back pain of discogenic origin with degeneration
of the disc confirmed by patient history and radiographic studies); (2) pseudoarthrosis;
(3) spondylolysis;
(4) spinal deformation, such as kyphosis and lordosis; (5) fracture, (6) unsuccessful
previous attempts at spinal surgery; (7) tumor resection; (8) correction of
severe instability and/or deformity when used in addition to a posterior spinal
instrumentation system; (9) neoplastic disease; and/or (10) deformity associated
with deficient posterior elements, such as laminectomy, spina bifida, or myelomeningocele.
